Question To Slc or Blc, which to buy for Dallas?

Trying to decide between a Blc. Malworth x Pot Wattana Gold Fragrant and a Slc Tutankamen "Pop"!
Help? Can't seem to make up my mind. The Slc has chocolate drop in it. I live in Dallas, Texas and it sure gets hot in the summer so that is a consideration. Any input would be appreciated.

I say - get both! hehehe... But if you have to choose, it sounds like the Slc is the one you really want. Get it and see how you do with it. As long as you understand what it needs, then it should be fine.

    Welcome to the forum!

    Cheers,
    BD

I agree with BD. Buy them both. You know you want to do it! So indulge yourself.

I have the first cross and it doesn't do well outside here. It needs a bright South or East window inside. The SLC will probably bake in August as well. I have to bring a lot of catts inside in July to keep them happy.

Wow, my catts love it hot.....95 is average during August. They grow like weeds in the heat.

Yeah..but when your temps are that hot, Connie..you have high humidity as well. Here in Dallas/Fort Worth..when we get to 95 degrees, our humidity is somewhere around 20% and the catts just shrivel no matter how much water they get. Humidity is the big difference between Texas and Florida...

    Clint,
I was curious as to what you would say...I noticed that you had pictured an image of the first cross and I really liked the deep yellow color. I have many Cattleyas that do well outside all summer, but I have a high shade situation. They get morning sun and late day shade. Plus, I have a lush backyard with a koi pond that might stay a bit more humid. I do have a Chocolate Drop that has done incredibly well and some other cattleyas. (I do water daily in a lava rock drainage situation.) Considering this information, is the yellow cross still a bad idea in your estimation?

The Wattana Gold cross is very easy to grow. I'd give it a try too The fragrance alone is to die for.
