Description: I've never cared much for the typical every day tomato based BBQ sauces as we know them here in the states. I've always had a taste for something more tropical/international and this is what I came up with.Time: 50 min.Difficulty: Easy
Ingredients:
- 24 oz. ketchup
- 2 T. Worcestershire
- 2 med. ripe mango's, finely diced
- 1 T. garlic powder
- 1 T. ground cumin
- 1 T. red pepper flakes
- 1 T. celery salt
- 1/4 c. honey
- 1/3 c. apple cider vinegar
- 1/3 c. apple juice concentrate
- 1/2 c. orange juice concentrate
- 1 c. passion fruit flavored rum
Preparation:Instructions:
- Combine all ingredients, except the rum, in a non reactive sauce pan and bring to a slow simmer. Simmer for about 15 minutes. Remove from heat and allow to cool for 20 minutes. Add the rum, mix well, pour into air tight container and refrigerate.
I love BBQ sauces.
This one sounds too good to pass up. Tho that passion flavored rum is a hard find in my area.
Not sure how I missed this one. Thanks Mitch - sounds easy and great! The mango & passion fruit flavored rum should make it really tasty!
Cheers,

I will try it this weekend! Bet it's awesome with some pork ribs! Not to mention the fact that I can make drinks with the extra rum!
I use Parrot Bay passion fruit rum, only because I've never found any other brand in that flavor. It keeps very well in the fridge and I always have it on hand. I'm making oven BBQ pork chops tonight, as a matter of fact.Be sure to let me know how it turned out for you.
passionfruit rum? heck, dad wouldnt want me using a drop! especially not at 350.00 per bottle!
Sounds great though...can i use a rum like coruba?
Wow! I pay about $12.00 a bottle for Parrot Bay Passion Fruit rum. It's the passion fruit 'flavored' stuff.
yea, exactly what this stuff is!
