Default Rescued orchids

Got these 2 chids from a Box Store at 50% and 70% off. I just feel sorry for these guys for the lack of proper care when they go to those BS's. There were actually quite a few that were on their clearance rack and more to be added in a few days as soon as the blooms starts to wilt. I wish I could save all of them but they don't come cheap at $30 regular price. They were both on 6" pots.

First one is a Blc. King of Taiwan 'Da-Shin' and Blc. Tainan City "General"

12 - 15 bucks is very close to wholesale price (obviously depending on the quantities purchased). The plant looks healthy. Hopefully it will grow some more roots and bloom for you within a year!

Cheers,
BD

We could learn a lot from crayons: some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some have weird names, and all are different colors....but they all exist very nicely in the same box. ...Hmmm? .

Those both look healthy - particular the 2nd plant, it is quite a few years old! That one should bloom soon.

For that size, it's a good buy. Somewhere I saw the picture of King of Taiwai flower before, and it was really beautiful. You have to post a picture when it blooms.

great save Marissa. Bet they will be so happy with the proper care and attention they deserve that they will flower again soon after settling in at your place. The King of Taiwan looks nice from that picture... a lovely pink floof!

YES! Good Save! Why is it, the box stores in this area don't discount orchids? (I guess, because they don't often have orchids). That's what I get for living in a small town! Keep rescuing the little beauties, Marissa. Soon you will have enough chids to fill your own greenhouse! LOL!

So far I have not killed any Catts yet, except a couple of those seedlings that I got online. I think I can keep them alive, but getting them to bloom is still in question, lol.

Yeah, the second plant has more growth and I'm keeping my fingers cross about getting them to bloom again

I sure will, I hope they will reward me with few blooms for saving them.

It's only this particular box store that carries beautiful catts like these. The other box stores only carries phals, oncidiums, and dendrobiums.

It makes me wonder, does anybody knows if the stores purchase these plants from growers or are they on a consignment basis?
