Mine did open! I am so pleased about the nighttime scent! Yay! This is my first blooming on this large multigrowth plant, I guess it put all its energy into this one display. I did not expect us to bloom them the same time, how cool is that

Fren & Richard, those are beautiful! I just bought a couple neo seedlings, but they are smaller than I expected. I'll probably have to wait a few years for blooms.

    Fran, your neo looks fantastic!!!
Stacey, we'll wait together and drool over the keyboard while looking the pictures... I have compot babies and it will take about forever until I see blooms there...

Oh, hooray! It is blooming for you after all. Sometimes I think it might be a spike, but then it is just a new growth. Looking good.

Default Neo Falcata potted in Bark Chips?

    Hi,

When I got a Neo Falcata from a well-known grower, the plant, already in bloom, arrived in a small plastic container with small bark chips.

    Name: Neo Falcata_01-1 B.JPG
Views: 77
Size: 262.3 KB

If I follow your advice and repot the plant a year from now, should I use bark or moss?

    Thanks,

    Romulus

Romulus, I hate moss with a passion but still use it for Neos as they like to be moist continuously after the winter season rest. I didn't water mine at all from October through December/January except for the occasional misting.

Romulus-I grew neo falcata in bark as well for years .It grew & grew but since they are wind orchids they like to have their roots free so you will notice that the new roots just seem to avoid going into the media but rather just skim over the moss or bark.My original plant just sat on top of the media after the buried roots gradually rotted like an old man's toupee! I now have 31 of the little Japanese ones. Each time you re-pot you just take a few of the roots to anchor them in the container until they form more wandering roots on top.I do use moss now.
