Default The orchid invasion has arrived

Today I've done the unthinkable and increased my collection by 50% from 39 to 58. This 19 plant haul was cheaper than I thought it would be....

I've added the following phal seedlings most in 3" pots:
    venosa x amboinensis
    stuartiana
    cornu cervi
    celebensis x equestris
    lueddemanniana
    amboinensis yellow
    venosa
    violacea sumatrana
lobbii (the only one in spike; see picture)
    hieroglyphica
    buyssoniana
    equestris rosea
    amboinensis
    pulchra
    chibea
    inscriptiosinensis
    tetraspis x gigantea
    violacea coerulea
violacea x sib (Dark x D#malaya) [cannot really read the tag very well]

There is one that has some weird egg looking things in the medium (picture) does anyone know what this is and how I can get rid of it?

    Hi,

the egg like things are fungus. It does not attack the living plant. It is feeding off of the orchid medium. It can be an indication of old media. If you have not repotted recently, it may be a good idea to do so this spring or early summer.

Wow, you don't mess around! Nice haul, Richard! Are you going to repot all of them?

    Cheers,

A 50% increase in your collection, you are getting serious here! Congrats ...

I had the tiny white egg thing as well on a plant that was kept too wet and in dire need of repotting in a fresh mix.
I was advised on the forum to pour peroxide on it too.

I have done all of the above and the "eggs" disappeared.

Was this a package deal you scored on? Hard to find deals like that in NH!!
Is it me or do these plants look like they are in pots maybe one size too large?

It was some kind of package deal. A tray of 18 orchids for $20; and I got the extra 19th one too.
