Smile New Spike on Paph ln Charm White x Niveum

This is my first new spike on this paph.( In-Charm White x Niveum) from what I have found, this should be a nice White Bloom. The grower that I purchased this from, hand writes all of his tags.I don't understand the In- before the Charm White ?? Time will tell.I will update this thread,as this spike develops. Take Care,Rich

    Hi Rich,
That may be a hyphen, rather than a period; if so it would be Paph In-Charm White X niveum. There is a hybrid named In-Charm White. (Actually, there are a whole pile of Paphs that have In-Charm as part of their name.) So far, nobody has named or registered this cross.

    Cheers,
    Rob

Yes, as Rob states: Paph In-Charm x Paph niveum is correct. The plant looks healthy and happy. I look forward to seeing the bloom when you post it too.

    Cheers,
    BD

    Smile Getting Closer !!

This is a update on the progress of my paph. It looks like this baby has two blooms coming,or its a multi-flora. I was just happy to get the spike propped up without breaking it off ! That is all I was thinking of.My next post should be of this plant with the bloom opened up,I hope. Take Care,Rich

You bring up an interesting point: my Ho-Chi Minh x delenatii is also multifloral, while it's not supposed to be, as I understand it.
Perhaps there are some misnamed parents in it's lineage..

niveum and some of the other brachypetalum are able to multiflower of the one spike, so couple that with hybrid vigour and you get plants from these parents that are able to produce more than the one flower per spike.

looking forward to the updated pic of the flower.

I did post photos of this plant on a different thread. For some reason I was not able to get the two buds to bloom. On the first spike the second bud turn brown & died.I think that I accidentally had water get into the second spike,it also turn brown ?This is the link of this plant in bloom. http://www.rv-orchidworks.com/orchid...-x-niveum.html . I still learning. Take Care,Rich
