    Default Blc. Hawaiian Leopard

My new baby arrived today. After a bit of a hassle with the post office, who couldn't seem to figure out where it was to go, it finally arrived. I was quite worried about it sitting in a hot (supposed to be 90 degrees here today), dark, airless box, and nobody could tell me where it was, until I called my local station who gave me the good news that my mailman had it on the truck. I didn't even wait for him to bring it to me. The minute I spotted his truck across the street, I went and got it. Just gave it a nice drink, and will soon move it to its new temporary home in my bedroom. Once the "orchid room" is put together, it will be moved out there.

    Anyhow, without further ado:

Please ignore the mess in my kitchen

It survived the trip in VERY good shape.

The newest lead (facing away in the picture) will bloom for you in the next couple of months. The bloom(s) will look EXACTLY like the picture I've attached.

    Thanks Clint,

I am so thrilled to have something that can and will produce such a stunning flower. I'm going to go look for that lead right this minute.

Thanks again for everything. You are a first class gem!!

So happy for you that it arrived safely in the end, it looks very healthy from what I can tell. Its great news it should bloom in the not too distant future. I collected my seedling of Angraecum sesquipedale from the mail sorting office and it is also one healthy happy little guy just gave it a drink and it will come in here in a few mins. I hope you enjoy your new orchid for many many years to come.

Rich, that's how it arrived, and who am I to dispute what makes it happy?

All I know is it looks healthy and happy. I was concerned because it seems so dry, even after two waterings yesterday (per instructions), but I have been assured that it's fine, and only needs water every five days or so (indoors).

I plan on following instructions to a tee with this one, and hopefully will be rewarded with that stunning looking bloom, and lots more.

I might also add one thing...

I personally tend to underwater my Catts with no drastic consequences. I've noticed that slightly underwatered Catts have better roots when I inspect them whilst repotting.

Roots adapt NICELY to how they're grown. Roots grown in water thrive as well as you can see from previous posts titled "water culture".

..and yet another (I keep thinking of things when I hit post!)

I always let the pseudobulbs be my guide when watering...I run my fingers over the pseudobulbs and if they feel more ridged than normal I water

So feel your orchids up! It doesn't hurt.
