ok, so not african, and not asian... and I'm no huge expert but I don't think this is an Australian orchid either, so that would leave South America (or north but highly unlikely.... now to narrow it down country by country hahahah...

    You are correct.

    I'm afraid not.

Now that a huge portion of the world has been eliminated -- and thereby the number of possible species and countries of orgin have been greatly diminished -- it shall be interesting to see how quickly the ID 'sharks' close in for the 'kill'..........

Wow, have I managed to stump this crew? I'm surprised ... I was sure some species nut would recognize this neat plant native to Colombia to Peru as well as Venezuela, Brazil and Bolivia. Makes me wish I had some great grand prize to offer to the successful ID.

Indeed it is, Tom. Sneaky devil ... like an alligator patiently waiting by the watering hole for easy prey. Do you happen to have one too?

Paul, I was patiently waiting for you to anounce the winning prize..., well, since there was no prize for the contest, I let it go...

I used to have one of those and I believe this species does get bigger over time.
