    Question Rhyncostylis Gigantea 'Peach' questions

I bought this today, much to my suprise it was in the "baggie baby" section! When I got home I immediately removed it from the spagnum and plastic pot it had been in. I thought it should be potted up like other vandas...however a little research scared me as they were talking regular potting stuff. So, those of you in the humid areas, do these go in baskets with very little, or is it a plant you pot with a wood mix?? I'm so confused! I'd already potted it up with those clay pellets and a wooden basket. Should I redo it?? Here are the before and after pics...so far. lol

Thanks for any advice....i'm gonna go nuts figuring these things out.

It should do fine in the basket. I have mine in mix of cork and coco husk. It's doing great and putting out it's spike now. I do think you leaves are a little dark and long so I'd give it more light.

From one Floridian to another, I have all my Vandas root naked in wooden baskets and they love it. But to be sure ask Tami. She grows awesomw Vandas here in Fl Connie.

very little medium is needed, like others said, treat em like vandas and i agree, your leaves are too dark, those are sun lovers so dont be shy...

Phew...thought so. Finding it in spagnum and reading a couple articles that talked about potting them normally threw me. It will get it's sun upped slowly until it is with the big boys. Thanks all....

Connie, I bought one about 2-3 months ago from the box store and I took it out of the pot immediately. Now I have it bare root in a basket. It's doing good and growing new roots now. I also have several more babies different colors that I bought bare root back in June and they are doing fine too.

You could also use lava rock, Connie! The basket looks good.

"""In VietNam, we grow them like this:"""" don't rub it in. Many/most of us aren't blessed with the environment you have...........unfortunately.
