Default Orchids are tougher than you think

Since Jan 2 we have not had a night higher that 44 F most were in the mid 30's and two days ago it was 28 when I got up at 7. Everyone who could come in is in the lanai but the tree chids had to brave the cold. I did wrap the palm with Christmas lights but lets face it 28 deg is COLD. These 3 did pretty well only a little freeze damage on the outside leaves and lost all of the unopened buds.

They are amazing...i'm so glad your's did so well! I'm waiting to see how my neighbor's plants did... He left his drip system going and left for vacation right before the cold snap. His are out in a screened room with no protection. I'm guessing most of his will end up in the trash.

I'd get those frozen leaves off before they turn black.

Hope it warms up. For the orchids sake and yours.

Looking pretty darn good, Cin! One more thing you could do if temps drop below 32 for you again- The christmas lights to provide a bit of warmth and wrap in an old sheet or blanket to hold the warmth around the plants.
