Talking Noid Oncid spike finally has buds!

Those of you that have seen my posts about the oncidium with the long spike, are going to love this one. I have been so careful not to hurt the "ever growing" spike. It is now over 3 feet tall and there are a few buds coming on now. I just had to share this...i've been having so much fun watching this thing grow over the months. Now we get to find out which kind of oncidium this is! I was so amazed that one little plant could put this out...I cannot wait to see the shomburkgia in spike next. lol

Yes, ron, looks very much like a tolumnia; the plant and the buds at the tip. Can't wait for the 'revelation' .

    Smile In bloom at last!

I ended up with two lonely little flowers on my 3 ft. spike. This is the first bud to open. The top petal hasn't straightened yet...hopefully it will eventually. But here is my unknown oncidium.

First; against a white background...anything else and the flower glows brilliant yellow and you can't see any details at all.

And against my hand to show it's size. It's almost the size of a nickel. It took two days to open, so this may get a little larger.
