    Default Bulb. Frank Smith 'Chocolate Thunder'

    This one is going to put on quite the show this year. 6 inflorescense, all will have multiple buds that open in succession.

    Most are pollinated by flies and have fragrances of feces and rotting meat. One even has the name Doggy Doo and that name doesn't lie.

    Well, if that is the case, I don't want anything to do with them. I'm sure that if you grow them however, they must have SOME redeeming qualities! LOL! Betty :-)

    Now, now. That's not true of ALL of them. There are some with no fragrance, and even some with good fragrance. There's a member in my orchid society that has Bulbophyllum odoratissimum that smells wonderful. Bulbophyllum ambrosia also has a nice fragrance.

    My favorite is Bulb. phalaenopsis-looks and smells like rotting meat, but is such a cool plant. I would get one if I had the space.

    I don't want to be disgusting, but the name "chocolate thunder" doesn't sound too far off that same mark!

    oops...had to edit! It is a lovely plant and I'm looking forward to seeing the bloom pics!

    oh, there is a few bulbos which smell heavenly and you would throw out your best smelling orchid, lol.
    like b.laxiflorum, b. megalanthum and many others i dont know yet, aside from those above mentioned.
