They need to be cool and moist. I killed 2 years ago that were supposed to be "warmth tolerant"-apparently not when the temperatures got around 90 degrees. Humidity was probably part of the problem.

Byron, that is cool!! The only one I can grow has to be kept very cool.

i'm keeping it between 68-78 degrees, i dont think i cant keep it colder than that until late fall and winter lol. BD They have more masdevallias where i got this one, i might get a few more i love the way the leaves look. They also have a few dracula one or something like that, the leaves look like grass. Thanks alot BD that was kind of embarrasing lol =)

    Beautiful color on that!

While many Masdies are obligate cool growers, some do like intermediate temps and a few actually are more in the warm growing category. Masd. rex is an intermediate to warm grower, whereas Masd. veitchiana is a cold to cool grower. As a hybrid, then, there's a good chance that yours will do well in intermediate conditions. So the temperature range you are using, Byron, will likely be just fine.

Hello Byron, I got my first masd this spring. I repotted from the plastic pot into a clay 'cool' pot with a hump in the middle, and drain holes low on the sides - kinda like semi hydro. I surrounded the original root ball with bark and I keep it fairly moist. We keep our home at 80 degrees daytime (yeah, it's HOT), but so far the masd seems happy. Guess we'll know by next spring! Good luck!
