    Talking Orchid Location Change

I know everyone that has been reading my posts for any amount of time knows how I whine about my Vanda types hating my care. I had bought a nice healthy Crownfox awhile back and after it finished blooming it began going the normal route of my Vanda types. It slowly began the withering of the roots. The overall healthy look soon began fading, and after the move I found some black awful looking stuff in all of the leaf axils. I moved it to the front porch, doused it with a physan spritz/bath and then hung it on one of the palm trees out front and began ignoring it except when the front porch plants get watered. I would hose it down and have not given it one ounce of plant food. It must be the front yard or something...look at the roots and new growth this has sprouted. I now have well water for my hoses and yard sprinkler system. All of my dendrobiums are spiking out and plants that i'd thrown to the side to die from bugs are now mysteriously healthy, thriving and without a bug. I'm at a loss to explain it...other than the change in water and general "humidity" here. I haven't changed anything...but i'm loving the change in my vanda types.

This plant was infested with scale and the p-bulbs were withered and laying over the edge lifeless looking. I don't know what's eating the bugs but I love them!

Mrs Gnome was so shocked that one of my prettiest oncid types is in spike she fell over! The spike was hiding behind the leaf...I cannot believe I missed this one for so long.

Congrats Connie.Your vanda looks fantastic. I'm sure it's the constantly moving fresh air and that well water.

Connie, that root on the vanda, the one that goes all the way down to the ground- is amazing. I have some vandas, that do really well all summer outside, but in the winter I have to bring into the garage and it really sets them back. It's so great that yours can spend all year outside (I hope?) because they really seem to love being outdoors.
It's so good that all your plants showed you so dramatically what they like!

It's nice to see it when they like a change...I agree. This was the most pleasant suprise.
