Default The Beginnings of a Encyclia Collection.

These photographs are of Encyclia prismatocarpa (top) and Encyclia adenocaule on the left in the the bottom photo. I have only had these a short time, four to six weeks and they have so far have refused to bloom! What nerve! AL

Well, I bet these orchids will bloom for you soon. They look so healthy! That p-bulb on the Encyclia adenocaule (second photo) is huge!!

    Cheers,

Congrats! I have only one Encyclia (randii)...had it since September I think. It has a very fat shiny pbuib, and I can only hope it is storing up energy to bloom this spring. I'm not even sure where the spike would emerge...which makes it hard to watch obsessively . I guess from top of bulb? But anyway, I can't wait!

Kathi: You and me both hope they are storing up to burst in bloom in the spring or...... O.K. if I have to I will give them to summer. I rather like the look of the pseudo bulbs. I think the bulbs look more symmetrical than what you see in most orchids. Thanks as always for the reply! You know that I am sure you must be right and the spikes must come from the tops of the pseudo bulbs (probably new growth). I will check it out to make sure. AL

Betty; I just yesterday ordered two more Encyclia's. I loved the colors and they are all suppose to be fragrant. AL
