    Cool Goodyera pubescens

So i found this plant last year...walking with some friends at this place called Purgatory Chasm in south eastern massachusetts... First of all the Chasm is amazing and beautiful....ill have to post more pictures but anyway.......so like i was saying i only found two of them and it pretty much made me turn my head, out of no where and caught my attention......come to find out....its an terrestrial orchid....lol...when i first found it one of them had a spike. recently i went out there to take pictures and possibly find more.....seeing that everything just melted. Their evergreen leaves would be easy to spot.....still only two out there

Andrew, Once while riding(horseback) around my neighborhood, I noticed there was a showy orchis growing wild at a new home construction site. When I returned & put the horse up, I got back there as quick as I could after the workers left. I dug it up & put it in my wild flower garden along with a couple of other orchids. It grew and bloomed for many yrs. I hope its still there...Betty :-) P.S. I almost forgot to say that this was when we lived in Minnesota.

Awesome.....your a savior...lol more people should do this before they build in new areas.......there was a development with 125 houses around here waiting to be built. They were going to cut down a wicked old tree...oldest tree in my town and also a rare species of salamander resided there......still dont know whats up and complaints have been made.....but everyone only sees money.....mass is about to waiver the species and build......sometimes i just love Humanity.....<----sarcasm

Nice find, Andrew! Common name is downy rattlesnake orchis; I have found it hiking in the Smokys and only seen blooms once. I love the leaves!!

Awesome Andrew, hope you find more. I have also just discovered that there are many terrestrial orchids growing in my area. Many get overlooked very easily.

Thanks for the photos! I love seeing shots of orchids in situ, and it's great to know what to look for around here.
