My first orchids were vandas and vandaceous because they are the most easily available here. I think my preference has gone full circle and now I'm back to vandaceous. I'm very excited by the development in the breeding of inter-generic vandaceous hybrids currently going on in Thailand. Hopefully my regular supplier will bring some to the farmers' market tomorrow.
Nice to see your posts Willeke.

Thank You Gavin and Willeke for sharing in the excitement of a new orchid. It came through shipping beautifully and has two spikes on a nice plant. I will post photos tomorrow. Willeke please post a photo of your latest acquisition when it comes in. AL

Yew; Good luck and have a great time shopping for vandaceous hybrids tomorrow. I hope you find something really unusual/stunning at the farmers market. The inter-generic breeding you speak of sounds fascinating. AL

The only issue I have with vandas and vandaceous are that they take up space fairly quickly.. My small house is beginning to fill up rapidly with my orchids

I think that will take a while. I have no idea how long it will take before they can bloom, but I'm guessing not this year anymore. Do you perhaps have any idea how long that will take.

I'm looking forward to see some photo's from your new orchid Al. I'm actually expecting 2 more seedlings. The one my mom is bringing from Thailand. That will be next tuesday. And 1 is coming by mail. So I post the pics when I get them.

From the size of the plants, I would guess two to five years, but that is just a guess. Culture will have a lot to do with how quickly they bloom also.

    Cheers,
    BD
