Default Buds: mini phal and L. briegeri x C. walkeriana

A while back, I asked whether you could rebloom a phalaenopsis from the same spike. People said, sure, although it can be hard on the plant. I don't even grow a lot of phals, because they take up too much room for my liking, but I've picked up three miniatures over the past several months. Of these, only one had its bloom spike die off after it was done, so I left the other two to see what they'd do. One has been patiently making more buds for me over the past several weeks:

    So that's fun.

I got a L. briegeri x. C. walkeriana on an auction in. . . maybe December? I'm into these rupiculous laelias because they grow in such ridiculously harsh conditions and, hey, I respect that. I was skeptical when I got it because the seller had cut off ALL its roots. I mean all of them. But I put it in a pot, gave it a clip to hold it up, and it wasn't but a week before I saw a shoot, which has been growing and is now heading toward blooming, too:

The seller's picture of the blooms were quite cool, but I don't know whether she was just posting a picture from the grex or this plant itself. It was cheap, I figured I'd take a risk. Assuming no catastrophes between now and. . . what, a month or so, I'm guessing, I'll find out what it looks like for sure!

Very nice and healthy orchids Victoria.
I believe L. briegeri x C. walkeriana should be a very nice cross.

Seriously, just looking at this pic gave me the feeling that this will be a showy bloom. Anyway, the registered name for this plant is

Cattleya Walgery (Cattleya briegeri X Cattleya walkeriana)

    Cheers

I found that Walgery name. . . yesterday or the day before, I forget now. I should correct the tag before I forget. But YES I'll be posting bloom pics when I finally have some! I'm so hurting for flowers around here it's not even funny -- we barely even have buds on our trees, crocuses are only just coming up and blooming, so I am watching my orchid buds with anticipation.
