    Wink Prosthechea/Encyclia cochleata

This is my nice little "octopus" orchid love it to bits!

When i got it, it was flowering from the second/larger pbulb, and it had a new growth. This new growth now appears to have a sheath forming in between the leaves! fingers crossed!

Looking good. Also looks like it could use a bit more water.

Jordan, I found that mine loved to be sprayed a few times a day...so I put it under one of the misters in the greenhouse. It is mounted on a piece of wood...seems to like high humidity. Good luck with it...I hope you'll have flowers soon. Mine blooms several times a year... Betty

Betty: I now bestow on you the honor of being our Encyclia Expert. This title may give you very little power, but plenty of satisfaction and prestige. Jordan, I believe you deserve credit as our 'Most Active Youth In A Orchid Category". Your enthusiasm and curiosity are thankfully contagious. AL

Thank you very much, Al, but I am certainly no "expert." I know a few things about the ones I do grow & bloom, but I cannot get my rufous, or alata to bloom! I did move them both to a spot with more light, but I think it's too late for them to spike...we'll see. Thanks anyway. I DO agree with you about Jordan, however! Betty :-)

Sorry about the broken nose, Jordan...How did that happen!? AND if anyone out there has any hints on "how" to get an encyclia alata or encyclia rufous to bloom, I'd appreciate your advice! Thanks...Betty :- )
