I don't know, around here things generally seem to cost more. We just have more than our share of greenhouses, nurseries and yardsales.

Ditto on that Connie.........Jordan I don't know what your inflation rate is like, but its definitely gone up here and on some things substantially. We may be better off than some nations, I am not sure. We get minimal international news in the States unless there is a war going on that might effect our interests abroad or a major disaster such as a earthquake, etc. (I am thinking of you and New Zealand). In terms of debt, ask almost any American and he will tell you we have Trillions of Dollars worth. So you see it may not be a greener pasture over here. AL

if you lived here, you would wish you never left the states! food prices go up almost on a daily basis ie: Cheese and dairy products:go back 3 years, a pound (500gm) cheese would have cost around 3.50, now, a pound costs almost 13.00!

and i must say, that is a large debt! ours has broken the last record (some say its good, cause its a record lol) by almost 23 billion! our debt here stands at just over 32 billion dollars (and the govt blames it on the earthquake, but most know its all the cash the govt forks out for so called "native" rights and their customary rights....)

Wow Jordan that kind of inflation is awful and your right it isn't that bad here. Do you know, are wages going up to?, or are many people just cutting back or doing without? I really hate to hear of this happening. I hope the economy improves and New Zealander's can have a respectable living. AL

well our government is one that cow-tows to the rich guys, when they made the promised taxcuts at the beginning of their term, the wealthy ie: 700,000 or more, got a tax cut twice as high as someone on say, 100,000 a year. to add insult to injury, they increased GST from 12% to 15%, and said that because they were giving a taxcut, everyone would be better off.
Apparently "everyone" is anyone who earns more than a million a year.....
Wages are NOT increasing, and the minimum wage stays fast at 12.50 per hour.

Now in the 2011 Budget, they have targeted the Working for Families comission, and KiwiSaver, and have cut funding by half, yet the majority of NZers are asking "Why cant you cut your own stupidly high salaries?"

Yes, it is heartwrenching to see your own country descending into poverty, yet for some stupid reason, everyone wants to vote in the current National government (this is the one doing the damage) for another term in November, instead of the Labour government who did a bloody good job in their decade of office.
