    Default Orchid Buds under attack...

Usually going outside to look at my plants in bud gives me a smile. This is the first time I've had this happen. One of my prettier cattleya's, 'Bronze Queen', thrilled me when I found the new buds. Then I found this...it's enough to make a lady want to use bad language! Two of four buds were nibbled on...

OH NO!!!!!!!!!! What did this? I had something land on my butterfly this morning and I blew him off. He kept coming back like it was a game or something. I can't see any damage to the bud but I don't know what it was. It look something like a fly just larger. I am so sorry Connie. That would me cry and swear too!

Connie, Can you tie some kind of loose netting around the buds? That way, it may keep the insect off of the buds... Just a thought...Betty

Time to get the big guns out !!! I am pretty sure, that it is slug and or snail damage, they are my sworn eternal enemies. I hate them soo much, that whenever I see a snail here in Bremen, I have to control myself a great deal to not crush those critters, I have seen so much damage from these guys that even though snails here in Bremen have no chances of damaging my orchids in India I feel like killing those nasties.

I thought it was a mouse. If it was a snail i'll be given em my "two cents worth"...couple of pennies will fix that slimy thing!

I thought maybe a grasshopper or slug at first, but a mouse might be the problem too. Man, that bites !

Snails around here get big. I find them climbing the walls outside from time to time. Guess it's time to go put the pennies out for them. It's always cool to find a small pile of goo with a set of eyes in the morning. Muhahaha....
