    Default Coryhopea NOID

Does anyone know if this particular Coryhopea has an ID?

It is Stanhopea oculata x Coryanthes macrantha

A really cool story gooes with this one:
I was at the sales table at the Hawkes Bay show, and i made my decision to purchase the Calanthe. Out of 20NZD, i now only had 8NZD left, but this one was 12. So i pondered for a bit, then went away to browse the orchids on show. Then as i approached the table again, a complete stranger came up and handed me a 10NZD bill! i was shocked as i was surprised and grateful! She said "Here you go, go and get that one you want, its good to see young kids like yourself into things like this!"

The moral of the story: Never underestimate the kindness of complete strangers That lady made my day!

BTW, does anyone know the flowering habit and basic culture (ie, heat and light) conditions of this particular plant?

    Coryanthes macrantha x Stanhopea oculata

Jordan - what a nice story. You are really raking in good karma - you must have been a good boy lately! Keep it up. You're being groomed to be a grand old gentleman in the orchid world who passes on encouragement (and orchids) to newbies.

It looks like the tag indicates it prefers cool, not sure about light.

Stanhopea oculata x Coryanthes macrantha doesn't seem to have a name just yet. But, I bet it will have cool blooms!! Nice story about this orchid too.

What a wonderful thing your stranger did.
Little acts of kindness always make you feel good as a recipient ...but much more as the giver.
We have a toll road that I have to travel to work. I wasn't in a great mood. I was waiting inline to pay. When I finally rolled up to the toll taker she told me the person in front of me paid my toll??? I went into work in such a good mood...I think it lasted all day.
Next day...I paid for the person behind me. While I felt good the day before, I got much more out of it being the giver.
I was the recipient and the giver for several years and it always made you drive away feeling GREAT. That little $.50 had the ability to change your day.
Alas, you no longer pay for the toll. You have to buy a pass

At school, i had something similar happen a few years ago. Our school canteen sells chocolate doughnuts, and i was waiting in line and wanted to buy a drink, when i got to the window and ordered, i got my drink AND a doughnut. YUM! Turns out the teacher in there at the moment before i got to the window had bough a doughnut for everyone in the line, 46 hungry teenage boys. Alas, i dont know WHO the teacher was, but i have been giving advice and free keikeis to all the teachers at school to get them hooked!

What a nice lady. It's good to see that there are still some decent people out there. Not to mention the great orchid she allowed you to buy. In Australia these are as rare as hens teeth. They could of charged 4 times as much and I wouldn't blinked an eye paying that price. Congratulations on your purchase. I am truly envious
