Default Cattleya granulosa is a trooper

Just three weeks ago, I got a C. granulosa 'Green Tea' in an order from an online seller. All the plants I got from them were in good shape, which was especially nice because this was the first time I'd ordered from the seller -- and you never know. The C. granulosa had a shoot just starting, 1/2 - 3/4 an inch long. Look at it now!

It's so gratifying when an orchid takes to my conditions, especially when they travel by mail from a greenhouse in Hawaii to my living room in Buffalo, NY. Just wanted to show off my happy little catt and recommend the species in case anyone wonders whether it's a good home/hobbyist plant. I think so!

This is a beautiful plant. The wait for the bloom will be worth it. It is gorgeous in bloom.

There was a time when I grew mainly bifoliate cattleyas. I still have quite a few and still buy some on occasion.... I bought this one and it is still one of my favorites.

I've had mostly good experiences with ordering online, and I've done a lot of it at this point (Not many garden centers in Buffalo with wide selections of orchids.) Sometimes people do bizarre things like cutting off all of a plant's roots; sometimes the plants are much smaller than described. . . but I have about an 85% satisfaction rate, if I think back. It's certainly nice to have the selection you can get online.

And I'm glad to hear another voice in favor of this orchid. It looks like it ought to be a showstopper -- both very unusual and very elegant. I'll let you know how mine comes out in a couple years.

I bet it will be a showstopper! It looks so healthy and with that vigorous growth, it should bloom for you before long! Nice choice, Victoria.

    cheers,
