Gin - what on earth is that stuff you have it growing in? Looks like that old candy called Boston Baked Beans LOL Maybe it would like something more 'natural' to make it feel like blooming!

give it a good chill to 55 degrees for a month in the fall, and I'd start using bloom booster exclusively now. no need for even the balanced formula, the plant clearly doesn't need more nitrogen for leaf growth, lol.

Lol ! what it is in is Hydroton semi hydro pellets , but not in semi hydro . It has been in diffrent things, with the pellets no rot no bugs in the mix , a snap to repot and can flood the pot to get rid of Fert. salts and crud . I do the cool down and use the Bloom booster 0 nitrogen in the fall . That is why I think it is a mule ! *laughing * Gin

I guess it is time to put the videotape of a salad shooter in front of it........

BTW - do you use those pellets for everything? No bark at all?

Hi , The Catts . and the Phals. are in the pellets the finer rooted plants are in bark , or Spag. the species Phals are in Spag. One other thing ,if you would be gone for a few days the pots can be set in trays of water , which wicks up into the pellets .

Gin, that's a shame it's not blooming--the foliage on it is pretty stunning. Plant like that with a good hefty spike on it? That would be a definite "wow".

Have you tried moving it around? Sometimes conditions just a little different can get them to spark. Otherwise, it can join my Doritis pulcherima....

my mom has a yellow phal (diff cross) that is a monstrous plant...bloomed once in like 5 years. I keep telling her to leave it out with the cyms until it gets to be 45-50 out, but I think she'd rather have a big phal with green leaves than risking the cold snap.

So you have drain holes in the bottom of your pots ?? How often do you water ? I like the concept of being able to leave and the wicking idea....
I predict your orchid will spike shortly . After all , you have threatened it !
