wow! a spike, planifolia? is it from crown grow point or from side node on newest growth?, you are very very lucky to ave one of those so early and in a home location. Usually the vines vigorous vegative growth, with high humidity demands, with many o many meters of spread with maturity thrown in only consider such a decision. Lets see what the majority say! Even stem cuttings from a mature vine auto resume juvenile status and primary veg growth objective. Decided to forward mine on as space an issue and my dove orchid wins that one.

I will post a better picture tomorrow, the plant has grown substantually since the first picture and has many little roots, but this does not look like a root or new growths as it grows upwards but this growths is in the middle of the plant.

Gabriela, I am so sorry for your and my disappointment that it turned out not to be a spike. On the other hand, I am relieved that it was not because I would have been GREENNNNN with envy. I have had one for more than 2 years, it has decided that it will take over an entire wire fence where it is growing, but not a sighting of a spike. I read somewhere that you had to bend and pinch the vine, and that would induce flowering. Tried that, seems it only made the plant more determined to keep on growing.
    Ill post a pic. later.
Good luck, I do really hope you get a spike. The race is on!!!

Thanks for the encouragement Angela, mine is on the top of my arbor and is constantly growing. I will let you know of any changes. I agree, the race is on.
