This is a Zygopetalum which I bought from a German source about 2 years ago. It has bloomed once, and now the Pbs are growing on top of each other. What's wrong?. I would welcome some feedback.

I don't grow Zygopetalum but I've always thought of them as being a cool growing orchid. Maybe it's just too hot in Barbados.

I just checked the Baker culture sheet on a couple of Zygos and he shows them with daytime temps in the low 70's and the night temps in the 50's.

Well, it doesn't look like a happy Zygo: hard to say what's wrong as we don't know how you treat it...

Is it, by chance, a bollopetalum (bolea & zygo cross)? I have seen them do that...

I had a Zygo once which I got from France and it was the most reliable bloomer for me. The fragrance was like gardenias however saying that it did used to produce pbulbs on top of each other. I guess that that is just how it grows there isn't much you can do about it. Mine didn't get too much sun as I grew it indoors quite far back from my south /west facing window. Don't know if that is of any use to you but good luck Angela.

I had a zygo a while back. It grew similarly. The new growths were always climbing.

This is natural for a Zygo, we had several at the Uni. Bremen greenhouse and they grew similarly.
