    Default Big, rambly Laelia tenebrosa

I can't take any credit for this -- I got it today from a grower (who's obviously done a great job). All the plants in my order were big and healthy, but this one really took my breath away:

Four leads! (FOUR LEADS!!!) And look at all those roots. I expected it to be about half the size, for the price of the 4" pot. I feel really lucky to be part of the orchid community, because it seems to be so full of generous people -- growers who send out amazing plants like this when they could charge a lot more if they wanted to, and cool people like you who'll get excited over new plants with each other & share advice.

Yeah, I think I'm going to give it the bloom booster fertilizer for the next couple months and see if I can get some buds. This is one of my favorite species, and it's supposed to be a really good grex (two vinicolor parents), so it'd be wonderful to make that happen right off.

Wow, wish I could get any of my orchids to look as vibrant as this one, stick like glue to that dealer.

that is great. great roots! But after all if you have a greenhouse with high humidity that is what you get! I bought a seedling 18 months ago an dnow is taking off. it is still smaller than that but each new PB seems to have 2 leads. I just got a seedling of L. grandis (although aren't these all Cattleya now?). which is very similar. still small. But everything now is taking off that humidity in 60% + and temperatures in the 70s +. Too bad that this growing season in NY starts so late and lasts not long enough…

I am wondering how much did you pay for it...
