    Question Dendrobium Green Lantern Care...advice?

Hey everybody! I am just about jumping out of my skin, because after weeks of looking, I was finally able to buy a Green Lantern Dendrobium!

So here's my dilemma...I have several other Dendrobiums...all warm growers, I think. I have a Den. Golden Rod, a Den. Udom Blue x Genting Blue, an Aridang Blue, and two Taurinium seedlings. They are all thriving beautifully. They sit in the morning and afternoon sun next to my vandas, and they are doing great...blooming, growing new canes...happy, happy.

However, I believe the Green Lantern is a cool-grower, right? So if I put it with my other Dens and Vandas, am I going to cook it? I live in Pennsylvania (definitely a NON-tropical climate), so I put my Dens and Vandas in as much sun as possible. They get direct sun in an Eastern window for several hours in the morning, then several hours of direct afternoon sun in a Western window in the afternoon. It's working like a charm.

But I'm concerned about the cool-growing Lantern, because I'm not quite sure how much sun to give it. Do I give it direct morning sun but spare it the super-hot afternoon sun the others get? Do I move it back from the window altogether and position it closer to my phals?

I've been looking for one of these for a while, and I do NOT want to cook it! Advice, please!

Thanks! You all are the best!

I think it will do well with all the other dendrobiums and cattelyas - at least mine did, until the whole plant died from root rot. I got this plant from a friend who lives only about 40 miles away from me and he has a whole bunch of them growing well and blooming in his nursery. You do have to be careful about overwatering. Mine died during the wet season.

That's a great suggestion...except I don't have any Catts! LOL But I've been inspired to order one, so I will get my first Catt along with my Green Lantern in the mail later this week! It will be some trial and error I think, but hey...at least I know to put them together now!

Always happy to enable. Remember cattleya orchids need high light to bloom and must dry off quickly. Pot in tight medium that doesn't hold moisture for too long.

    cheers,
