Default Oncidium Sweet Sugar in spike

I finally have a spike on one of my Oncidiums Sweet Sugar. I never before managed to get them to spike. After growing a new bulb, it matured and instead of putting out a spike, they put out a new growth. I guess I used too much Nitrogen which triggered them to keep growing instead of blooming. Now, this one got a high K fertilizer before the growth was completely mature. I guess I'll have to do the same to the other plants as well.

You can almost see it grow. I wish all the orchids would grow their spikes so quickly.

Update on the spike. It's huge now and you can already see the buds. I wonder how long it will take until I see flowers.

My Onc Gower took about a couple more weeks from that stage before it was well into the flowering.

The blooms will be yellow with some brown in it. Yellow blooms are so cheerful in grey winter days.

I guess that's the time I'll have to wait as well. They sure teach us patience.

The buds are about to open now. I guess that in a week or so I'll be having flowers.
