Cool 2 Spikes on my Phal!

This phal is a grocery store phal. A NoID. I have had it for over a year. No rebloom. Lots of roots and leaves. So, I decided to throw it outside. We have lows of 57F to 65F during this time and highs in the 80's and low 90's.

It was outside for 2 weeks and yes a couple leaves decided it is time now to drop, they are yellowing. But the newer leaves are just fine and 2 spikes have popped out. First time I generated 2 spikes on a hybrid phal. I brought it inside and threw a different phal out in its place.

    Congrats Harvey!
But why you brought it inside?! If it's spiked outside - its like it, why would not you leave there till spikes develops completely?!

the problem with moving them around is that the spikes may stall if the conditions change too much

They do love the cold weather, always makes them spike. At the nurseries in Homestead they have big walk in refrigerators to put Phals in to get them to spike before selling them.

I have a small deck that is shaded by a wall to the south (so I grow on the north side of the wall. Gets good sun from the east for a while). I do need to come up with a shade system for what I have. I burn several each season I try this despite my efforts to avoid it.

Wow..I love your deck, it is so clean, tidy and organized. Mine are mostly hanging at the fence and a real mess.

Thanks! My space is so small it is easy to keep clean. Also, I have to bring them inside from Early September to mid-May except for my Cymbidium. So that doesn't really allow things to accumulate.
