Tindo, I personally find them difficult to bloom indoors. When on my plant stand, bud blast was always a problem. My suspicion is a lack of humidity. As you're growing in a terr, the humidity problem would be eliminated i would think.

I have my promenaea in S/H at the moment, but I don't think it likes it- its lost a leaf, and is turning a bit yellow. You think these guys like to dry out a bit? That surprises me, bc everything I read said that these promenaea's like damp, shady conditions. You think I should put it back in regular bark? I'll do it if you think it will help - PM me and let me know your thoughts!!

Becky, we have been growing this one in the same place for the last year. It sits on the end of the bench half covered by the phals that tower over it. As I mentioned in the earlier post, it is growing in small bark with some moss to hold in moisture. The pbs are very 'full' looking and appear more round, so it seems to hold water on its own.

Ours most assuredly drys out between waterings. I don't know if this is the 'correct' culture for these little ones, but it has bloomed two years in a row now for us.

The yellow leaf could be a good indicator that your plant wants to dry out a bit more, but it could just be an 'older leaf' that is dying off and will be replaced with a fresh one soon enough. Take a look at the roots since it is in S/H and see how they look. If they appear healthy, then it is probably fine just as it is. If they look like they are rotting, then repot, but keep it damp for a bit more than you would as you transition it out of S/H to the bark mixture. Good luck!

    Cheers,
    BD

Thank you, Kerry! I really am quite fond of it. It is such a small plant to bring such beautiful blooms. Very rewarding to grow. It seems to take little care - and even better, little space!

    Cheers,
    BD
