    Default Guessing game!

Here are some orchid buds; what are the species?

    1. Hint: Named after Atmo
    Paphiopedilum kolopakingii - Julie

    2. Hint: Third smallest species of this genus

    3. Hint: Successive flowers, and variety translates out to "wide leaf"
Paphiopedilum chamberlainianum var. latifolium - Elena

    4. Hint: A spotted Brazilian beauty

    5. Hint: A pink Pleurothallid from Ecuador, with a sensitive and mobile lip.

    6. Hint: It is a Florida native which looks like bird beaks.

I must defer to those more knowledgeable than I. But the last one is obviously asparagus!

Wouldn't ahve a clue for the first 2 as I don't do paphs or phrags.

The last one looks to me like a Scaphosepalum swertifolium. But I don't recall the lips on those being mobile.

...the red bud Pleurothallid isn't a Scaphosepalum...

I think this game is a little to hard

The first three are Paphiopedilum species.
    1. Second largest species of Paphiopedilum
    2. Second smallest flowering Paphiopedilum
    3. A multi-floral species with hairy flowers

The third is a miniature Brazilian Cattleya species
Fourth is a Pleurothallid with a touch sensitive, mobile lip
Fifth is NOT an asparagus... The flowers are red, and native to Florida

As far as I know, they are both considered the same species...

No, #3 is not Paph. stonei var. latifolium, but the varietal name (latifolium) is correct

If it has hairy flowers then Paphiopedilum victoria-regina (chamberlainianum)?

Quick O/T regarding Paph platyphyllum / stonei var. latifolium which one is more correct so to speak or more commonly used?
