    Default Driftwood Projects

I just wanted to share some pictures of orchids that I mounted on driftwoods.
These pictures are a few weeks old - I'll take some updated pictures if there are any new developments.
Right now I just see some new roots beginning to emerge. I hope the roots grasp the wood.

Dendrobium Kingianum - Inspiration: Palm trees on a rock island.

Cattleya Guttata - Inspiration: Chinese Mountain Art

Dendrobium NOID - Inspiration: Banana Trees on the Riverbank.

So much wood, too few mountable orchids. I guess thats what I get for favoring standard ones over minis.

I thought about mounting one of my standard, full size catts but realized I would need a driftwood the size of a German Shepherd to maintain visual balance.

    I hope you like it.
Suggestions and recommendations would be most appreciated.

I have several more works in progress. I'll share the pics once they are ready.

    ~John

    Thanks Ron.

The driftwoods were purchased from a pet/reptile store. They are intended for high humidity or complete underwater use. So they are perfect for orchid mounts since they wont rot anytime soon.

Thanks, I will have to look for a piece for a mount.
Many Encyclias would do well on those.

    Thanks Shaydra.
Although I cannot take credit for the art. Both the driftwood and orchids were Nature's work, not mine. I just paired them together
