Default (Howeara) Anyone ever grow a Hwra?

I'll admit to not even knowing what "Hwra" is even an abbreviation for. I received a seedling as a gift (always nice), from a sister who knows I like orchids (but who doesn't know enough about them to realize there are LOTS of different kinds).

My search of the internet revealed some great photos and that it is a cross of Leochilus, oncindium and Rodriguezia. Some sites said to grow it like a phal.

Any advice that is more specific?

I have two Hwra. Lava Burst 'Puanani' AM/AOS seedlings. I believe you are right, that they are a combination of Leochilus x Oncidium x Rodriguezia. According to the grower I purchased these seedlings from, this mix does well in "typical" Oncidium culture. Happy growing

I also have the Lava Burst . It is in a slat basket started out in a pot in the semi hydro pellets . One thing with this one is to have fast draining and drying medium , They also will do well mounted when larger . As jenn said Oncid. light . Gin

I have a Hwra Lava Burst also. I grow it in a bark mix in a clay pot. It gets the same treatment as my oncidiums. Phal. light would not be enough.

Anyone seen the new Hwra, yellow? I had one at my work a while ago but it sold quickly.
