Wow, that is the strangest thing I've ever seen! It looks like you have black watermelon seeds on the leaf - I've never seen anything like it. I would guess bugs, or bug egg cases, something strange for sure!!`

That is bizarre. Is it spreading? Do the spots get bigger or move? Is it just on the one leaf? If it's not too widespread you might be able to cut it out. Good luck and let us know if you find out anything and what you did. I have V. Sansai Blue 'Acker's Pride', she just blasted a huge bud spike. Don't know why except the top buds were blackening and we've had a lot of rain lately.

    Are those slug munch marks?

It looks like that little bugger was crawling along the leaf margins and nibbling as he went...hmm....

I'm putting my money on bug egg cases (how gross does that sound?!?) and I'm going to keep bumping this thread up until someone can tell what this is? Hey connie, can you pick off those black things? Or are they really stuck on?

I scrubbed them with hydrogen peroxide and then tried to pick them out with tweezers but they are in there good. I'm wondering if since they are black I may have killed them and just not noticed them as this vanda hangs in the corner right now. I've been misting with bug spray to kill strays trying to make a home in one of the orchids. So far it's kept summer bug outbreaks to a minimum.

I keep pennies all over the porch....that keeps the slugs away like magic.

That is strange! I have not seen anything like this before. It appears that whatever it is, it was inserted into the edge of the leaf, but sticks out just a tiny bit beyond the leaf edge. How odd. The part that was eaten could be a slug or grasshopper, but the 'seeds' - I have no clue what that could be.

    Cheers,
    BD

Looks like scars from something eating on the edge of the leaf , if hard and wont come off I would just keep an eye on it , no use cutting healthy tissue . Gin
