I think they are cool looking bugs! I don't mind bugs as long as they stay outdoors and they are non-biting or stinging.

Well the good news is that this critter was on one of my succulents kept outside until the weather gets COLD, then, of course they all come into the GH...the better news is that he didn't hang around long enough to get more than the one pic...just as well...don't need him eating my stuff...bad enough problem with grubs eating the bases of my succulents!

Yeah, I lifted a basket to check on a bad catt that refuses to grow properly. Thought I'd see what its major malfunction was....when I lifted the basket off the shelf a HUGE monster cockroach was sitting under it! It's the 1st time since we moved here I didn't let out a scream when I saw a big buggie. Guess I'm getting used to them..... Your big green guy would have gotten the swat of a lifetime from me....I hate grasshoppers of any kind! I had a huge one bite me back in the 80's (the old days lol) and I can't stand them now.

What's the difference between a"katydid" and a grasshopper anyway? I've never seen this one before. Looks like a kind of green cricket we get here.

Giovanna, katydids are relative of grasshoppers and crickets (same family but belong to a different genus if memory serves me correctly). They tend to be much more delicate looking, are not as strong hoppers but are good flyers.

That is an awesome shot of the katydid! I love the fact you were able to capture the circular markings on its face. Almost like it is tattooed. I have never looked at one so closely before. They are really kind of creepy. lol. Nice paph, BTW.

    Cheers,
    BD
