Mites are hard to get rid of. Be sure to repeat applications to catch emergers. If possible, use a different pesticide each time. The generation time of mites can be as short as 5-7 days. Experts recommend that one discards severely infested plants and prune infested tissue from remaining plants.

yes, definately repeat several times at regular intervals, just a few hangers on can repopulate the whole colony in no time. they are a scourge indeed.

oh crud!! yes i see some white cottony weblike material on some of my 'kids. i sprayed with 10% alcohol solution because i also had some scale on some of my staghorns, so i just used the same solution. i did wipe those orchids with a cloth and didn't see any red tinge on the paper towel. could this be mites??? can i use a dish soap solution for the mites? any suggestions on home remedies? i currently only have an antifungal at home. thanks all.
