This was my only online purchase, never again. This is a Phal.Tsay's Evergreen(Sheba's Elf x Yungho Princess Gelb) What are these tiny little spots? Any ideas ? Please help! I can't believe that I did notice these before.I thought the spots on the front of the flower was normal. They do rub off.I didn't see anything else on this forum that looks the same as this issue. I have made many purchases online and through auctions sites...I have had very few problems. Sorry that you had a problem with your first online purchase.

Take a magnifying glass and get a good look at it. Just keep it isolated from the rest of the collection.

..and be sure to spray it. If those spots are little critters, you don't want them infesting the rest of your collection or home. Sorry this happened.

    Cheers,

Please be more descriptive ! Spray ? Spray with what? I do not know what type of spray to use? What type will get rid of mites, and would this also help with gnats? Sorry to ask so many questions. Thanks Rich

Spray with an insecticide--even just one you get at a home improvement store like "Garden Safe" brand (if you grow in your house), or if you want to get really serious you can buy Malathide. Bruce tipped me off to that one, and I've really like it. Again, it is available at both the blue and orange home improvement stores.

I recognize that cross, and probably the vendor, I tried to PM you with a suggestion, but couldn't for some reason. Reputable vendors are usually very willing to discuss problems with the plant. You may want to give the vendor a call to discuss it.

Sorry if it's spider mites. If so, you might want to try a product that has both Safer's soap and pyrethrins. I have recently found that to be effective on those pests.

Make sure to hit all surfaces (under leaves as well as on top). Then, no more mite problem!

    Cheers,
    BD
