    I just had a crazy thought...

    Ok, so, essentially your plants are trying to produce a new plant through their apical meristem, which is the tallest point on the plant. If you cut off this terminal growth at its lowest point, closest to the older leaves that were there before, maybe it would initiate side growth again? or a side keiki? Just a thought... it would be like "pinching" the plant, like you pinch your annuals to get more flowers...

    I have cut some of flush with the leaves and some longer about 2' we will see what happens.
