In Feb I bought this little cutie from one of the big home imp stores, hrumph! Check out where it's marked with red. I didn't notice it till I got home, but the stem had been broken and was connected by a thread and they GLUED it in place. How's that for unethical? The strange thing is that it's still in bloom hmmmmmmm,go figure. I think it continues to bloom just to spite those people! So don't give up on you little phal, they will do some amazing things.

I am lucky I havent come across that problem though I did make the mistake of buying one with root rot as it was reduced, was my first orchid and it promptly died on me! it got me looking for information and in the process i decided ok dont give up try again and since then I have become an addict to these beauties, sadly I am sure that I will no doubt murder a few more in the time I grow them but I will make sure I do everything I can not to. starting off with a sick plant isnt my best plan so I wont be doing that again! not a lot you can do when the stores do things like that but as you say these guys seem to have a will to live and to flourish, certainly an admirable trait in any living thing.
