I had the same thing happen to one of my orchids... I noticed one day that the kitchen was getting over run with ants and did not know where they were coming from. So when I followed the ant line, they were coming from the orchid pot. I tried watering it thinking maybe that would help, but no, once the water out of the pot, the ants were still there. So I took the entire plant out of the pot(luckily it was not blooming at the time), took all the mix out of the roots, collected it all in a nice big container and soacked it all in hot water. All the ants died. I did this a couple of times and when I was sure no more ants were alive, I rinsed the mix with cool water and repotted the orchid. No more ants, no chemicals what-so-ever and only took me about 15 minutes from start to finish!
