    Angry Slugs!

    Those lil' need to die!

First I found them chewing up my orchid seedlings...one or two might not make it. Then when I really started hunting for those monsters I found them on my peppers, celery, basil, lavender.....ahhhh!

Needless to say I put out some beer and slug bait and threw the ones I could find onto the pavement!!!

    They shall be vanquished!!!

They will eat up your tender young seedlings fast. Hope you get 'em!

Seriously....found that out the hard way.

I've heard about the copper and might add some pieces out there of that too. I was so grumpy last night dealing with those monsters. The mosquitoes really tore me up while I was battling the slugs. I am checking my seedlings frequently to keep any other severe damage from happening.

I've heard you can bait with tasty treats like cucumbers and apples and such. If I don't notice positive results from what I have already tried I will look into that.

I till like the 'drown them in beer' trap. They go happy that way!

When we lived close to a river they were awful I used a thick liquid slug bait dabbed on the pot rims also put a ring of rock salt around the plant area outside and the greenhouse foundation outside ..... Gin

I have had slugs in my outside garden for some time. I tried everything...then I started saving my egg shells and microwaving them for about 20 to 30 seconds. After they cooled off I broke them up and put them in a ring around the drip zone of my plants. No more slugs. The egg shells are sharp and cut them. They disintegrate! Maybe if you tried this on top of your mix it would help.

I tried everything from diatomaeceous earth to beer traps, from cucumbers to copper wires but snails and their buddies the slugs have haunted me for long. The only way to keep these buggers out, is to keep the grow area very clean, devoid of any hiding places, some times bait with Ferric phosphate or metal aldehyde and the best is to carry out night and early morning raids to find and kill these buggers. I put them into a saturated salt solution.

Have you tried old coffee poured through your pots? Supposed to deter or chase away slugs.
