Thank you so much Shann, I will write these down and do some research on them and make sure I dont get any on the flowers as I am sure that would kill them. and I have the one that ROn said so I have a good few t go at. I might google rust on orchids and see what I come up with there as well.

Any luck, Carrie? Rust can spread fast. Keep the plant isolated from your others.

    Cheers,

Well to update I wiped the leaves yesterday morning after i recieved an email off the nursery saying all their plants were clear and they thought it was jsut dirt on the leaves so I did this with warm water and detergent and so far no signes of it coming back but it is isolated from my rest and all lonely so I will keep it that way for about a month and see how the little guy does, I really dont want to lose it and dont wanna spread anything to my other orchids, The ups and downs of new purchases OY! what a rollercoaster.

Hi Shannara, You really ARE the encyclia queen! You answered my question as to "what" was on my new plant called ada glumacea ( spider like blooms ) that I was just about to ask about. It too has small rust/brown spots. on the leaves. Will Phasan work, or do we need two different things? Thanks for the help...Betty

I have a similar looking thing on my Coryanthes, but I know it is mites, even though there is no webbing because there is a false spider mite that leaves no webbing, and the reddish colored stuff (I am assuming this is their poo) comes off if I rub it pretty well with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol or bug spray. The resulting colored stuff on my q-tip is a dark reddish brown. Good luck.

Without knowing what could be wrong with your plant I am not sure what to suggest that you use. I read back over this thread and from past experience I recall that alternating between two fungicides is more effective if you have certain kinds of fungus.

If you have a local nursery or extension office you could see if someone could ID the problem with your plant and assist you in getting the right treatment for it. Or try posting a photo on this site to see if anyone here can help. Always read the label of anything you purchase to see if it is safe for orchids...even then you might want to test spray a plant. I have killed plants before with using sprays that were supposed to be safe.

    Talking Rusty/brown spots on leaves

Thanks for the help, Shann. We live east of Dallas, in the country, so we don't get "to town" very often. However! Today is THE DAY! So, I am going to a couple of stores and will let you know if I find out anything. By the way...since we BOTH love encyclias, I would like you to be my frind! Betty
