    Unhappy Sick Phal

My boyfriend bought me another orchid, but it looked very sick and scrawny. I repotted it in bark(it was in sphag), and during the process I noticed that more than half the roots had rotted away. :< After clipping the bad roots and repotting, one of the leaves turned yellow and fell off(from the middle), and the area from which it fell has a huge black spot on it. I really want to save this orchid! What should I do?

Try Hydrogen Peroxide on the dark spot to see if it fizzes. Then dry the area and put a small fan on the plant to help keep it dried so the rot is less likely to spread.

It fizzed when I applied H2O2, and as I was drying it, much of the rotted part fell off. I'm afraid the rot may isolate the top part of the plant from the bottom part. The top leaves are beginning to yellow as well. I'll keep you updated. :<
