Angry Lc. Orglade's Glow-bud blast-anyone know why?

I am so bummed! The Lc. Orglades' Glow that I bought in bud 2 weeks ago is well on it's way to blasting it's bud . It's bud slightly changed color to a orange-ish pink and the texture looks slightly wrinkled. In my limited experience with catt. hybrids this is followed be blasting.

Does anyone know why this happens? It is not in a very humid spot, but my paph.'s have spiked and flowered normally in the same spot without any problem. It is also indirect moderate light. Also not getting any drastic temp. changes or drafts.

Is this a somewhat normal thing for mini cat hybrids or just randomly bad luck?

I am not sure I can help I have just had the same thing happen to a mini catt of mine, I had it upstairs and all I can put it down to is drop in temps up there as we have no heating up there and I hadn't noticed it was budding ( dont ask me how I missed it as they were well developed) so hadn't moved it down stairs where it was warmer, often when you buy a orchid in bud they blast just due to changes in the environment from where they were purchased, I dont have that excuse, I can only presume mine was too cold at night.

Ummh I would say temperature drop at first sight despite you said 'no drastic temperature changes'. Remember that temperature close to a window might drop considerably (on cold nights) compared to the temperature inside the room, even if it's heated. Some other thoughts welcome.

Always annoying when this happens.
Your bud blast is most likely the result of the orchid being stressed from the sudden change of environment
between the place you bought it from 2 weeks ago and your home. (humidity, temperature and light)
It looks like a very healthy plant though ... there's always next time

Like everyone else...I have had this happen too. It's one of those things that makes you want to have a total rant. Sorry...hopefully it'll make up for missing a blooming by sending up another soon.

That is too bad. It is common for orchids in a new environment to have bud blast. Hopefully the next ones will not blast and you can enjoy the beautiful blooms.

Cheers,
BD
