Default What's wrong with my NoID Phal?

    Hey Guys,

I moved this phal inside with my other phals. and noticed that some of the leaves are being chewed by some unknown alien. I see one or two mealy bugs once in a while but I don't think they're the culprit. The others that I have inside are all okay. This plant is also growing in S&H, and I just cleaned it before moving it inside.

Looks like an insect or a mollusk have passed by the leaves causing damages to it. Kindly check its media maybe they are housing beneath.

You might lay a couple pennies on top...that will take care of slugs. The little round spots may be scale. Have you scraped at the round spots with your fingernail?? If they come off, it's scale. And a q-tip dipped in alcohol, rubbed on the spots will kill them. You will need to repeat this every 3-4 days until you get all of them.

Is there a grasshopper anywhere near your orchids? Looks like it had some dinner... and lunch.... and snacks.

    Cheers,

I have to agree with Bruce...and I am very familar with grasshoppers here in Texas. They like to hide under the leaves, and in the media. Even found a small grasshopper when watering on of my phals. And this was in the greenhouse, too! THEY LOVE PHALS.!Good luck...Betty in grasshopper heaven... TEXAS.
