Love the Ladybug idea...you can purchase them at specialized plant stores...I used them on aphids in my garden about 5 years ago. Worked like a charm and many of them winter over and are still helping out.

If you have a serious infestation, try Merit. It is a systemic insecticide. It will kill scale, mealybug... in contact and continue to do so for up to three months. It is a bit expensive to buy a whole bottle, so it will be great if you can find few people from your orchid club to share the cost. You only need 1/10 of teaspoon of Merit(in powder form) to make a gallon of spray(water). If I remember it right, a bottle of Merit will make 500 gallons of mix.

If you have a small collection, try the Bayer's advanced rose and flower insect killer from your local store. It works well since one of its main ingredient is the one in Merit.
