    Unhappy Dendrobium keiki issues :(

    Hey all
For about the past 6 months I have been trying to get a couple rootless canes of a dendrobium cruentum to put out keikis; well I have already gotten three from one cane (the other at the time put out buds, which fell off soon after forming) but for some reason they grew to about an inch and then the base of the keikis darkened (but they never turned brown as if they were rotting) and became soft as well as malleable, well those of course died although im not sure why.. any thoughts?
Well now on the other cane, 2 eyes have become swollen and one has started to form what seems to be the beginning of small roots; as this is one of my favorite species of dendrobium I would love to keep these alive! any advice?
    thank you, Jesse

Did you ever consider a bacterial or fungal infection? whenever i do stuff like this, i use a strong copper oxychloride mixture at half strength, once a week for about 6 weeks. i spray this over the substrate and plant/cane. This greatly reduces the chances of an infection as it sounds like you have.
I then use a half strength orchid growth booster, one formulated for orchids that is, when the little roots begin to appear. I do this again, once a week AFTER the copper regime is finished, for about 6 weeks again, then pot out.

Just my two cents worth, and i hope it helps!

I was thinking it could be a systematic fungal infection too .. I will look into the copper oxychloride method, I don't think that my current fungicide is copper oxychloride based so I may have to look around for new one.
Thank you so much for the advice!
