    Default Snails inside

My orchids are in a group on a humidity tray under a grow light in my living room. This evening I found two little snails on one plant, right in the middle of my setup. First of all, what! I live in a third-floor apartment. Second, what do you think I should do? I don't know how I'd use pennies or diatomaceous earth inside -- it's not like they have normal garden dirt they're crawling across.

I did just get a couple new plants and I wonder if they hitched a ride on those, but it seems odd that I would have found the two snails on one plant (which I've had for over a year).

My guess is they are hitchhikers.

Yes, they hid in your new plant. Always a good idea to repot/treat new plants before putting them with your collection. Never know what might be lurking in the pots.

    cheers,

Yes as Bruce suggests ! Strict quarantine. Even if obvious insects are not lurking on the plants we buy they can house their eggs which then hatch in our ideal growing conditions.

Apparently so! I'll keep an eye out for any more.
