Not sure how to excise tissue from so thin a fissure. I have opted to daub with peroxide and sprinkle cinnamon over the fissure.

Don, If it were mine, I would use sulphur instead of cinnamon. Sulphur will kill any bacteria, won't hurt the orchid, plus, cinnamon is too drying. Also, I have in the past used scotch tape to keep a leaf together that is torn or split ; until the next one grew in. Hope this helps...Betty

    Thanks Opaline, Kathi, and Betty,

Opaline rules with his knowledge. I purchased my phal. from a grocery (high end, however!). The process of under-watering to normal (strictly once-a-week!) is what probably caused my phal leaf to split along three inches of its main vein. I may do as Betty says. For now, the cinnamon is just there on the leaf. I water the phal every Monday and do so today. Otherwise, the leaves (all 4) are very plump and healthy.

As for scotch tape, I'm not sure I need it yet but I really appreciate the home remedy.

Thanks to all of you for your kind advice.
